Privacy Policy

Last updated: 25 April 2026

This privacy policy describes how the HTML to Editable Design — Page Capture Chrome extension ("the Extension") handles user data. The Extension is the companion tool for the HTML to Editable Design Figma plugin.

1. Summary

The Extension captures the rendered content of a webpage you choose and saves it as a file on your computer. No personal data, browsing activity, or captured content is sent to any server controlled by us or any third party. To produce a self-contained capture, the Extension may fetch stylesheets, fonts, and images from the same servers the page already loads from in your browser. No browsing activity is tracked. No personal information is collected. All processing happens locally in your browser.

2. Data we collect

The Extension does not collect, store, or transmit any of the following:

  • Personally identifiable information (name, email, address, etc.)
  • Authentication credentials (passwords, tokens, cookies)
  • Browsing history or visited URLs
  • Analytics, telemetry, or usage data
  • IP addresses or device identifiers

The Extension reads the content of the currently active tab only when you explicitly click the extension icon and press Capture Page. The captured content is processed entirely on your device and saved to your local Downloads folder.

3. Permissions and why they are needed

  • activeTab — Allows the Extension to access the page you are currently viewing, only at the moment you click the extension icon.
  • scripting — Allows the Extension to inject a small capture script into the active tab to read the rendered DOM.
  • downloads — Allows the Extension to save the captured file to your computer.
  • host_permissions (<all_urls>) — Required so you can capture any page you choose. The Extension does not read or monitor pages in the background; it only acts on the page you have open when you click the icon.

4. How captured content is used

When you click Capture Page, the Extension performs the following steps:

  1. 1Reads the rendered HTML and CSS of the active tab.
  2. 2Optionally embeds images as data URIs (if you enable that option).
  3. 3Packages the content into a single .hted file.
  4. 4Triggers a browser download to your local computer.

The captured file is saved only to your local machine. The Extension does not upload, share, or transmit it. What you do with the file afterwards (e.g., importing it into the Figma plugin) is entirely your choice.

5. Third-party services

The Extension does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, tracking services, or remote APIs. It does not load any remote scripts, third-party SDKs, or analytics endpoints. During a capture operation, the Extension fetches the page's own stylesheets, fonts, and images from the same servers the page itself uses, so they can be embedded into the saved file.

6. Data retention

Because the Extension does not collect data, there is nothing to retain. Files you download are stored on your computer under your control; the Extension does not track or access them after download.

7. Children's privacy

The Extension is a developer/designer tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children.

8. Changes to this policy

If this policy is updated, the "Last updated" date above will change. Material changes will be reflected in the Extension's listing on the Chrome Web Store.
